Verity could not believe his eyes, and was overjoyed when what seemed to be the end of the word befell humanity at last. Others may have despaired or cry in outrage in the emergence of the apocalypse, but why wouldn't Verity be happy? His dream had come true, the end of the world, just like in his favorite stories! Finally, he wouldn't have to dream about it anymore or write questionable fan-fiction on the obscure forums he visited sometimes. He could be the Hero!

Too bad it didn't last. Turns out, Verity's plot armor wasn't quite as strong as the protagonists he admired, and his story? Short-lived to say the least.
